🎯 10 New Wait Stats Checks on “What Happened?” and Redesigned Audit Events and Server Logins Screens - October 20, 2026

This release adds 10 wait stats checks to the What Happened? screen. They run automatically on every analysis and pinpoint problems in the time range you select, based on the wait stats SQL Server recorded. Select a wait stats check and the Activity tab shows only the queries that experienced those wait types. The release also delivers complete redesigns of Audit Events and Server Logins, 10 new Opportunities for database file layout and SQL Server Agent alerting, total row counts on Process tables, and fixes for customer-reported issues with filters, sorting, and Performance Metrics charts.

Our scheduled WISdom platform upgrade was completed successfully on Friday evening, October 16, 2026, at approximately 10:00 pm ET. The upgrade went smoothly, with no issues and no data loss. Thank you for your continued support.

⏱️ 10 New Wait Stats Checks on “What Happened?”

Section titled “⏱️ 10 New Wait Stats Checks on “What Happened?””

Wait stats are how SQL Server tells you what a workload is waiting on, and they are the first place experienced DBAs look when something slows down. What Happened? now reads them for you. Ten new checks are always applied, so there is nothing to turn on or configure. When a wait type climbs during the time range you selected, the matching check fires and points you to the minutes affected.

The 10 new checks are:

  • Increase in Blocking Waits
  • Increase in Backup Waits
  • Increase in Replication Waits
  • Increase in CPU Waits
  • Increase in Parallelism Waits
  • Increase in Memory Waits
  • Increase in Disk Waits
  • Increase in Availability Groups Waits
  • Increase in External Scripts Waits
  • Increase in Network Waits

See exactly which queries were waiting

When you open a wait stats check, What Happened? opens the Activity tab with Filter to this finding selected. Active Processes then lists only the queries that experienced the wait types included in that check. Select Show all to see every active process in the same minute.

Open Diagnostic checks to see every check, which ones fired during the selected time range, and how many minutes each one fired (for example, 1 of 60 min). Fired checks are listed at the top, and clear checks stay grouped by category below.

The new checks work from the wait stats available for the selected time. If SQL Server recorded no meaningful waits of a type in that range, the check shows Clear.

Security › Audit Events has been redesigned from top to bottom to help you see what changed in your environment and who changed it. Previously, Overview was a flat list of instances, databases, SQL statements, and counts, and Details required you to select an instance first. Now Overview summarizes your audit activity by category, and Details lists every event without selecting an instance first. Views, Tag, Filters, Reset, the date range, and Share remain in the toolbar on both tabs.

Audit Events is not turned on by default. To start collecting audit events, ask Fortified support to configure it for your environment. For setup details, see Audit Events.

Overview

  • Five audit category KPIs – Login activity, Access changes, Security changes, Policy changes, and Configuration changes. Each KPI has its own color, and the same color marks that category everywhere on the screen. Select a KPI to apply that audit category as a filter.
  • Top cards – Top Instances, Audit categories, and Top logins rank where the events came from. Select an instance or an audit category to apply it as a filter.
  • Quick filters – All events, Login activity, Access changes, Security changes, Policy changes, and Configuration changes narrow the table with one click.
  • All audit events table – One row per audit category, event type, and object type, with Instances, Databases, Logins, Events, and Last seen. Sort any column, use the column selector to show or hide columns, search the table, and page through the results. The footer shows Rows per page and Total rows.

Details

  • Every event in one list – Audit category, Date, Event type, Object type, Instance, Database, Login, and Message for each event. No instance selection is required.
  • KPIs that follow your filters – The five audit category KPIs on Details update to reflect the filters you select.

Event details

Select a row, or select the action icon on the row and choose View Details, to open the event flyout. It shows the Audit category, Date and time, Event type, Object type, Login, Instance, and Database, along with the full Message for the event, with a button to copy it.

Filters

The same Filters menu is now available on Overview and Details. Filter by Instance, Database, Audit Category, Event Type, and Object Type. Each filter shows how many values are available, and you can search within the menu. On Overview, filters update the Top Instances, Audit categories, and Top logins cards and the table. The KPI totals at the top of Overview stay at the full total for the selected date range.

Security › Server Logins has been rebuilt to show how your SQL Server logins are configured, and what has changed, without reading through a grid of role columns. Previously, Overview was a table of counts per instance, with a column for every server role. Now Overview opens with KPIs and charts, and Details gives you every login on an instance with its status, roles, and connections. Views, Tag, Filters, Reset, the date range, and Share remain in the toolbar on both tabs.

Overview

  • Five KPIs – Sysadmin, Elevated, not sysadmin, Password policy off, Disabled logins, and Dropped logins.
  • Three charts – Password policy shows SQL logins with the policy off or enforced. Password expiration shows logins where expiration is not enforced or is enforced. Elevated access shows logins with sysadmin, elevated (but not sysadmin), or no server role. Each shows the count and the percentage of logins.
  • Quick filters – All instances, Sysadmin, Elevated, not sysadmin, Password policy off, Disabled, and Dropped narrow the list with one click.
  • Logins by instance table – One row per instance, with Logins, Sysadmin, Elevated, not sysadmin, Policy off, Expiration off, Disabled, Dropped, and Last change. Sort any column, use the column selector to show or hide columns, and search the table.

Details

Select an instance to open Details. It shows the same KPIs, charts, and quick filters, scoped to that instance, followed by a Logins table.

  • Logins table – Login, Type, Status, Server roles, Resources connected, Password policy, Default database, Created, and Modified.
  • Quick filters – All Logins, Sysadmin, Elevated, not sysadmin, Password policy off, Disabled, and Dropped.

Login details

Select a login, or select the action icon on its row, to open the Server Login flyout. The Login tab shows the Login name, Login type, Instances, Default database, Default language, Status, Created, Modified, Password last reset, Last seen, the SID (with a button to copy it), and the login’s Roles. The Connections tab brings in the connection data from Performance › Database Connections, so you can see how the login connects without leaving the screen.

Filters

On Overview, filter by Instance, Is Disabled, Is Expired, and Is Weak Password. On Details, you can also filter by Login, Login Type, and Is Deleted.

WISdom now checks your environment for 10 additional opportunities. They appear on the Opportunities screen with a recommended resolution, and you can assign an Owner, Status, and Priority to each one just like existing opportunities.

Remember, you can customize your opportunities and opportunity thresholds through the opportunity policies in the Admin Console.

Database Files and Storage

  • Database Files Located on the C Drive – Data or log files located on the C drive.
  • TempDB Has More Than 16 Data Files – A tempdb configuration with more than 16 data files.
  • Uneven Data File Sizes or Growth Settings Within a Filegroup – Files in the same filegroup with different sizes or growth settings.
  • Database Files Located on Network File Shares – Database files stored on a network share.
  • Database Files Configured for Percentage-Based Autogrowth – Files set to grow by a percentage instead of a fixed size.

SQL Server Agent Alerting

  • No SQL Server Agent Operators Configured or Enabled – No operator is available to receive Agent notifications.
  • No SQL Server Agent Alerts for Severity 19–25 Errors – No Agent alert is configured for severity 19–25 errors.
  • No SQL Server Agent Alerts Configured for Database Corruption – No Agent alert is configured for database corruption.
  • SQL Server Agent Alerts Without Operator Notification or Job Response – Alerts that fire but notify no one and run no job.
  • No SQL Server Agent Failsafe Operator Configured – No failsafe operator is configured.

🔗 Jump from Database Connections to Server Logins

Section titled “🔗 Jump from Database Connections to Server Logins”

On Performance › Database Connections › Details, the action icon on each connection row now includes View Security Details. Select it to jump straight to the Server Login screen for the login on that connection, along with View Details and View Activity, which were already available.

The tables on the Process Overview and Details pages now show a total row count at the bottom, next to Rows per page, so you can see how many rows match your current view.

📊 Filters and Sorting Follow a Hierarchical Order

Section titled “📊 Filters and Sorting Follow a Hierarchical Order”

Impact filters on Opportunities and the Last Accessed filters on Infrastructure › Databases and Tables now appear in hierarchical order instead of alphabetical order.

🐞 Fixed: Resource Type Filter on Admin Console Resources

Section titled “🐞 Fixed: Resource Type Filter on Admin Console Resources”

On Admin Console › Collection › Resources, selecting Host or Instance in the Resource Type filter now returns the matching resources. Previously, applying either filter displayed no data.

🐞 Fixed: Opportunities By Instance Applies Your Filters

Section titled “🐞 Fixed: Opportunities By Instance Applies Your Filters”

When you filter by an Opportunity on Opportunities › Overview, choose By Instance, and then select a specific instance, the filters you chose are now applied to the instance page. Previously, the overview numbers reflected the filter but the instance page did not.

Sorting by Impact on Opportunities pages, including the page you reach from By Instance, now sorts by impact level. Previously, it sorted alphabetically.

🐞 Fixed: Blank Charts in Performance Metrics

Section titled “🐞 Fixed: Blank Charts in Performance Metrics”

In Performance Metrics, selecting Add Chart and then canceling the flyout no longer adds an empty chart to the page. Previously, each cancel added another blank chart.

🎯 Automated Alert Noise Reduction and a Redesigned Data Collectors Screen — October 6, 2026

This release focuses on two things: cutting the alert noise that buries real issues, and seeing exactly where data collection is healthy or stuck. The new alert noise tuning finds noisy alerts, forecasts how many alerts a different tolerance would avoid, and applies the change for you. The redesigned Data Collectors screen tracks your data from collection to availability. This release also adds 13 new Opportunities focused on security, backup, and database integrity, lets you choose the Jira issue type for alert tickets, and fixes customer-reported issues with Infrastructure exports, Monitoring Profiles, and the Client selector.

🔕 Reduce Alert Noise with Automated Tolerance Tuning

Section titled “🔕 Reduce Alert Noise with Automated Tolerance Tuning”

Alerts that fire too often train teams to ignore them. WISdom now scores how noisy each alert is, tests other tolerance options against your own stored metrics, and shows how many alerts each option would have avoided. Pick the option you want, choose where it applies, and WISdom creates the rule for you. No more trial-and-error threshold changes.

What’s new on Health › Alerts › Overview

Five summary cards at the top of the screen show where your alerts stand and how much noise you can remove:

Card What It Shows
Critical Critical alerts out of the total (e.g., 1 of total 190).
Total alerts All alerts, broken down by severity (e.g., 190, 130 warning, 59 information).
Noisy alerts Alerts that have been noisy over the last 30 days.
Noise reduction How many alerts have a noise reduction opportunity available.
Potentially avoided How many firings a month you would avoid if every available noise reduction were applied.

Below the cards, three panels summarize your alert activity:

  • Top Alert Categories – Alert counts by category, such as Replication, Availability, and Latency.
  • Noisiest Alerts – The alert types that fired most often. A noise reduction icon appears next to any alert type that has a noise reduction available.
  • Top Resources – The resources with the most alerts. Switch between Critical and Warning to change the count.

The Top Alerts table adds a Noise Reduction column. Alerts that can be tuned show an Available badge with the estimated reduction (e.g., Available 81%). The table header shows how many alerts in the list have a noise reduction available (e.g., 1 with noise reduction). Use the column selector in the table header to show or hide columns. WISdom remembers your choices.

What the Noise Reduction values mean

  • Available – A different threshold would reduce how often this alert fires. The percentage shows the estimated reduction.
  • Optimized – A tuned threshold is already in place.
  • Blank – No change is recommended.

An alert can appear in Noisiest Alerts without a noise reduction available. This happens when no threshold change would reduce the noise.

Tune a noisy alert

Open an alert with Noise reduction marked Available by selecting View noise and tune from its row menu. The Noise panel shows the alert name and its current threshold, then walks you through two choices: how much to reduce the noise, and where the change applies.

  1. Choose a noise reduction option. WISdom offers three options, each with a different threshold and a different reduction in alerts. The table lists each option’s Threshold, how many times it would have Fired (30 days), and the Change as a percentage. Select one option. You can also drag the slider between More noise and Less noise.
  2. Review the comparison. The top of the panel shows the impact of your choice:
    • Current – How many times the alert fired over the past 30 days.
    • Selected – How many times it would have fired with the option you chose, along with the option’s threshold.
    • Change – The percentage reduction and how many fewer alerts you would have received in 30 days.
  3. Enter a rule name. Rule Name is required. Use a name that identifies the resource or object, so the rule is easy to find later.
  4. Choose where the rule applies. Select one:
    • Resource – The resource and every object on it.
    • Resource and object – Only the specific object that triggered this alert on this resource.
    • Profile – Every resource in the profile you choose from the Select list.
  5. Click Apply.

You can select only one option and one Apply to target at a time. To apply a different threshold elsewhere, create another rule.

The new rule appears on Admin Console › Monitoring › Alert Rules, which lists each Rule, its Alert type, what it Applies to, and when it was Last modified.

Potentially avoided is a forecast based on the last 30 days of history. With less than 30 days of history, the figures are labeled preliminary.

500-Level Deep Dive: How Tuning Decisions Are Made

Section titled “500-Level Deep Dive: How Tuning Decisions Are Made”
  • Replay, not guesswork – Each tolerance option is replayed against the stored metric samples for that alert, not just the alerts that already fired. This shows how the option would have behaved across every collection, including values that came close to the threshold.
  • Rule precedence – A Resource and object rule always overrides a Resource rule on the same resource, regardless of which was created first.
  • Alert type defaults – Changing an alert type’s default tolerance doesn’t change any resource that has its own rule.

The Admin Console › Collection › Data Collectors screen now shows the health of your entire collection process in one place, from the resources being monitored to the data being available in WISdom.

  • Summary cards – Four cards at the top show Collectors running, Collection errors, Resources monitored, and Last check-in.
  • Collection pipeline – Follow your data through four stages: Resources, Collectors, Ingest, and Available. Between each stage, WISdom shows the latency for Communication, Upload, and Processing. The End to end value shows the slowest of the three. A stage that is moving data is animated, and a stalled stage holds still, so you can spot a delay at a glance.
  • Collectors table – New Comm, Upload, Processing, and Alerts columns show how each collector is performing. Click a collector’s error count to go straight to its errors.
  • Collection errors view – Switch the view from Collectors to Collection errors to see every error across all collectors in one list.
  • Collector details – Click a collector to open its details. The Properties tab shows the collection pipeline for that collector, along with its Collector, Host, Version, and Status. The Collection errors tab lists each error’s Server, Since, Platform, Error type, and Description.
  • Error details – Click an error to see the affected resource, the full error message, and Possible solutions. The details open in the same panel, and Back returns you to the error list.

The Collector Health subtab has been retired. Its information is now part of the Data Collectors screen.

🔍 13 New Opportunities for Security, Backup, and Database Integrity

Section titled “🔍 13 New Opportunities for Security, Backup, and Database Integrity”

WISdom now checks your environment for 13 additional opportunities. They appear on the Opportunities screen with a recommended resolution, and you can assign an Owner, Status, and Priority to each one just like existing opportunities.

Security and Permissions

  • Orphaned Database Users – Database users that are no longer mapped to a server login.
  • SQL Logins Without Password Policy Enforcement – SQL logins that don’t follow the Windows password policy for complexity and lockout.
  • SQL Logins Without Password Expiration – SQL logins whose passwords never expire.
  • Non-Default Server-Level Permission Grants – Server-level permissions granted beyond SQL Server’s defaults.
  • Users with db_owner Role Membership – Database users with full control of a database through the db_owner role.
  • SQL Server Agent Jobs Owned by User Accounts – Agent jobs owned by an individual’s login. These jobs can fail if that person’s account is disabled or removed.
  • Stored Procedures Configured to Run at Startup – Stored procedures that run automatically every time SQL Server starts.

Backup and Recovery

  • Encryption Certificate Backup Is Stale – Encryption certificates that haven’t been backed up recently. Without a current certificate backup, encrypted databases and their backups can’t be restored to another server.
  • Transaction Log Backups Are Routed to NUL – Log backups written to the NUL device. The backup is discarded, and point-in-time recovery is no longer possible.
  • Backups Written to the Same Storage as Data or Log Files – Backups stored on the same drive as the database files. A single storage failure can take out both the database and its backups.
  • MSDB Backup History Retention Is Outside the Recommended Range – Backup history in msdb kept for too short a time to support recovery, or so long that msdb grows unnecessarily.
  • Database Corruption Detected in Backup History – Backups that SQL Server flagged as damaged in the backup history.

Database Integrity

  • Database CHECKDB Execution Is Stale – Databases that haven’t had a recent DBCC CHECKDB integrity check, which allows corruption to go undetected.

🎫 Choose the Jira Issue Type for Alert Tickets

Section titled “🎫 Choose the Jira Issue Type for Alert Tickets”

When WISdom creates Jira tickets from alerts, you can now choose which issue type to use, including custom issue types configured in your Jira project. Alert tickets land in the workflow your team already uses instead of a default issue type.

For setup details, see Notification Channels.

🧩 Platform Column on the Monitoring Profiles Resource List

Section titled “🧩 Platform Column on the Monitoring Profiles Resource List”

The resource list on Monitoring › Profiles now includes a Platform column next to Resource Name, so you can tell hosts and instances apart within a profile. The Search field searches both columns, and the export includes both columns for every assigned resource. Platform values match the Platform column on Admin Console › Collection › Resources.

The WISdom API now returns whether each SQL Server Agent job is enabled or disabled. If you pull alerts through the API, you can filter out job failures from disabled jobs.

API details are available on the Fortified WISdom Connect API page. For connection setup, see WISdom Connect.

🐞 Fixed: Monitoring Profiles Resource List Shows Every Assigned Resource

Section titled “🐞 Fixed: Monitoring Profiles Resource List Shows Every Assigned Resource”

On Monitoring › Profiles, the resource list now displays every resource assigned to a profile. Previously, once a standalone host was assigned to any profile, the list showed blank rows for every profile, including profiles with only instances. The Instance Name column is now named Resource Name because a profile can contain both hosts and instances.

🐞 Fixed: Infrastructure Exports Include Every Available Column

Section titled “🐞 Fixed: Infrastructure Exports Include Every Available Column”

Exports from Infrastructure › Hosts, Instances, and Databases now include every column in the column picker, whether or not it’s turned on in your current view. Previously, columns such as Environment, Annual Licensing Spend, Annual Compute Spend, Created, First Seen, and Last Access Category were missing. Export column headers now match the labels in the grid, and all Infrastructure exports are named Infrastructure - so it’s clear where the file came from.

Section titled “🐞 Fixed: Client Selector Stays Open When You Click Its Search Bar”

The Client selector in the left navigation now stays open when you click inside its search bar. Previously, clicking the search bar closed the list, so you had to reopen it and start typing without clicking.

🐞 Fixed: Cloud Migration Planner Accepts Red Flag Buffering Changes

Section titled “🐞 Fixed: Cloud Migration Planner Accepts Red Flag Buffering Changes”

Changing the Red Flag Buffering value in the Cloud Migration Planner no longer causes an error when generating the assessment.

🐞 Fixed: Header Scales at High Browser Zoom and Narrow Windows

Section titled “🐞 Fixed: Header Scales at High Browser Zoom and Narrow Windows”

The header now resizes correctly when you zoom in on your browser or snap the window to part of the screen. Previously, the upper-right part of the header was cut off, which could hide the avatar icon and some tabs.

🎯 Standalone Host Monitoring, Clearer Chart Labels, and Complete Exports — September 22, 2026

This release introduces the ability to monitor a Windows host on its own, without a SQL Server instance! It also makes custom alert setup quicker to correct, adds API support for silencing windows, clarifies what chart pressure overlays measure, and fixes customer-reported issues with Tables exports and the Client drop-down.

You can now add a Windows host to WISdom even when it has no SQL Server instances on it, such as an application server, file server, or other server that supports your database environment. WISdom collects host-level metrics for it through WMI and Windows Performance Counters. The host appears on the Host Dashboard, Health > Alerts, Health > Resource Health, Health > Performance Metrics, Infrastructure › Hosts, and Infrastructure Processes. Additionally, the host can be added to Monitoring > Profiles, so it can trigger configured host alerts..

To add one or many, go to Admin Console › Collection › Resources, click Add Resource(s), and set Resource type to Host. Host mode shows only the fields a host needs: the hosts list, Data Collector, Monitoring Profile, Credentials, Cost Management, and Tags. The Instance Settings tab is hidden.

A standalone host uses one instance subscription until a host subscription is purchased.

This release also updates two related screens:

  • Resources grid – A new Platform column, plus Resource type and Platform filters, let you view hosts and instances separately.
  • Monitoring Profiles – You can now assign hosts to a monitoring profile, not just instances. The profile’s resource list adds Type and Platform columns and filters, and the add picker lists both hosts and instances.

🔌 Manage Silencing Windows Through the API

Section titled “🔌 Manage Silencing Windows Through the API”

Silencing windows can now be created and managed through the WISdom APIs. Teams that schedule maintenance through their own change management or automation tools can suppress alerts from those tools directly, without re-entering each window in WISdom. Windows created through the API behave the same as windows created on the Silencing Windows page.

Additional information about setting up an API connection may be found in the User Guide > WISdom Connect, with the specific API calls detailed on the Fortified WISdom Connect API page.

🏷️ Database Pressure Is Now Instance Pressure

Section titled “🏷️ Database Pressure Is Now Instance Pressure”

The red shading overlay on charts is now labeled Instance Pressure instead of Database Pressure. The overlay has always measured pressure at the instance level, and the old label led viewers to ask which database was affected. The new name matches what the overlay shows.

You’ll see the updated label in the Controls or Display menu on charts that display the overlays, like the Performance Metrics charts and Workload Activity. Only the label changed. The toggle, the shading logic, and the underlying data work exactly as before.

🗑️ Delete Tolerances While Creating a Custom Alert

Section titled “🗑️ Delete Tolerances While Creating a Custom Alert”

You can now delete a tolerance on the Create Custom Alert Type screen, not just edit it. If you add a tolerance by mistake, remove it and start fresh without leaving the screen. This matches the delete option already available on the Edit Alert Type screen.

For setup details, see Creating a Custom Alert.

🐞 Fixed: Tables Export Now Includes the Full Filtered Result Set

Section titled “🐞 Fixed: Tables Export Now Includes the Full Filtered Result Set”

On Infrastructure › Tables, exporting now includes every row that matches your applied filters. Previously, the export only included the rows visible on the current page, so a page size of 15 produced a file with 15 records. Exports from Tables now behave the same as exports from the other Infrastructure pages.

🐞 Fixed: Client Drop-Down Opens on the First Click

Section titled “🐞 Fixed: Client Drop-Down Opens on the First Click”

The Client drop-down now opens on the first click no matter how far down the page you’ve scrolled. Previously, clicking it on a scrolled page returned you to the top of the screen, and you had to click again to open the list.

This release turns down the noise. A redesigned Alerts Overview and Details surfaces your noisiest alerts and resources at a glance, MSP admins can sync tag groups straight into new client accounts, and MSP subscription details finally get a dedicated home in the Admin Console. We also tuned up database activity grouping and squashed two bugs along the way.

Health › Alerts › Overview

The Alerts Overview page now helps you spot noisy alerts before they bury your team in tickets. Three new summary cards highlight the alert activity generating the most volume over the past 30 days, based on the end date of your selected time range:

  • Top Alert Categories: the alert categories generating the most activity
  • Noisiest Alerts: specific alerts that may be creating excessive ticket volume
  • Top Resources: the resources most frequently associated with alert activity

Tip

Select any row in these three cards to jump straight into a filtered Alert list, pre-scoped to that category, alert, or resource so that you can move from overview to investigation in one select.

Value: Spot noisy alerts and high-volume patterns at a glance, cut down on unnecessary ticket churn, and put your investigation time where it counts.

🔄 MSP Tag groups can now be synced to new client accounts

Section titled “🔄 MSP Tag groups can now be synced to new client accounts”

Admin Console › Tags

MSP users can now create tag groups and tag values that automatically carry over to new client accounts. Mark any tag group with the new Sync to Clients option when creating a new tag group, and it will show a Synced badge in Tag Management. Once created, tag groups and tag values become available to assign to resources in every client account. In the client account, the tag values display an Msp badge to indicate their origin.

Sync to Clients Cannot Be Changed Later

The Sync to Clients setting can only be applied when a tag group is created. It cannot be turned on or off afterward. Editing a synced tag group is limited to its name and values.

Value: Standardize tag management across your client base from day one, and skip the manual setup of common tag groups and values on every new account.

📊 Group database Activity in more useful ways

Section titled “📊 Group database Activity in more useful ways”

Performance › Workload Activity › Activity Overview

Activity Overview now includes three additional grouping options: Login Name, Program Name, and Connection Host Name. Default grouping is unchanged.

Value: Slice database activity by user, application, or connection source to spot usage patterns and investigate activity from whichever angle the situation calls for.

⏱️ Chart time widget added to Performance metrics charts

Section titled “⏱️ Chart time widget added to Performance metrics charts”

Health › Performance Metrics

Performance Metric charts now include the Chart Time Widget, the same navigation bar already available on other charts across WISdom. This widget did not previously appear on Performance Metrics charts. Use it to move the displayed range backward or forward, jump back to the default 7-day view, or drag directly on the chart to zoom into a specific time period, all without reopening the Date Picker.

Value: Investigate performance metrics in place, without breaking your flow to reopen the Date Picker every time you want to shift the window or zoom in on a spike.

🧾 See sub-client Subscription Details for MSP accounts

Section titled “🧾 See sub-client Subscription Details for MSP accounts”

Admin Console › Subscription

The Subscription Overview now includes an MSP Subscriptions table for MSP accounts, listing each sub-client’s account name, product, edition, license usage, status, and annual cost.

Value: Review subscription usage and product distribution across your entire client base from a single screen, no more checking each client account individually.

All tables that allow column selection

The icon used to open the column chooser has changed from a vertical three-dot (⋮) menu to a dedicated sliders icon, making it easier to tell apart from row-level action menus. This applies to every table across WISdom that supports choosing which columns are displayed.

Value: A distinct, purpose-built icon makes the column chooser easier to spot at a glance and reduces confusion with the three-dot action menu used elsewhere in the same tables.

🐞 Fixed: Opportunities Details export no longer fails

Section titled “🐞 Fixed: Opportunities Details export no longer fails”

Resolved an issue where exporting data from Opportunities › Details would hit a fatal error and prevent the download from completing.

🐞 Fixed: Tag group icon behavior in Admin Console

Section titled “🐞 Fixed: Tag group icon behavior in Admin Console”

In the Admin Console › Tags page, the tag icon displayed on the Tag Group row now functions like all other areas of WISdom; select on the icon, and a pop-up will display all the values for the tag group.

WISdom v26.8.0: AI-powered Query optimization, smarter Query Analysis, and a redesigned homepage - wednesday, june 24, 2026

Section titled “WISdom v26.8.0: AI-powered Query optimization, smarter Query Analysis, and a redesigned homepage - wednesday, june 24, 2026”

This release introduces AI-generated query optimization, WISdom now automatically tunes your most expensive statements and tells you exactly what to change. It’s paired with a fully redesigned Query Analysis experience, a more informative Homepage, more flexible per-database custom queries, and several infrastructure and usability improvements.

Optimize your most expensive Queries with AI-generated recommendations

Section titled “Optimize your most expensive Queries with AI-generated recommendations”

Query Analysis

WISdom now automatically analyzes the most expensive statements across each monitored server and uses AI to generate specific, query-level tuning recommendations, turning raw performance data into clear, actionable next steps.

  • Recommendations tab: A plain-language explanation of what’s inefficient in the query and why, alongside an optimized version you can act on.
  • Scripts tab: Ready-to-apply scripts the AI suggests, which may include index changes, query rewrites, or other tuning strategies, each with one-click copy.
  • Savings column: A dollar indicator flags which queries (on which instances) have a recommendation available, so you can prioritize the highest-impact tuning first.
  • On-demand tuning: Request an optimization directly from the query flyout for a statement that doesn’t have one yet.
  • Credit-based usage: Optimizations draw from a set allotment of credits per client, with usage and remaining credits visible on a Query Analysis KPI card. If the AI returns no suggestions for a requested query, the credit is returned.

Value: Move query tuning from gut instinct to guided action. Instead of manually digging through execution plans and statistics, your team gets prioritized, explained recommendations on the queries that drive the most cost, so even a junior DBA can see what to change, why it matters, and how much it could save.

Query Analysis

The Query Analysis page has been rebuilt to make cost concentration and tuning opportunities easier to find.

  • Spend concentration breaks down where cost is concentrated, from the top 10 statements up to the top 1,000, across spend, CPU, and IO.
  • Time distribution shows activity across spend, CPU, and IO.
  • Clickable cards and new filters let you sort and segment directly, for example, jumping straight to queries with recommendations or to a specific execution range.
  • Reworked detail view adds an optimizations count, an updated performance-history graph across multiple metrics, and a cleaner instance breakdown.
  • The Cost of Code card now reflects percent of spend, the share of cost from your top statements, rather than percent of executions.

Value: Spend less time hunting for the queries that matter. The redesigned page surfaces where your cost actually lives and routes you straight to the statements worth optimizing.

Run custom Queries against each database individually

Section titled “Run custom Queries against each database individually”

Admin Console › Custom Queries

Custom queries now support a Per-Database option. When enabled, the query executes against each selected database independently rather than at the server level, and validation automatically runs in the user database instead of defaulting to master (with Azure SQL Database compatibility). Validation includes a database selector, and changing the setting in edit mode requires re-validation.

Value: More precise, database-specific analysis, especially valuable for Azure SQL Database and for isolating checks to a single database even when it spans multiple instances. Build checks that evaluate each database on its own, improving coverage for compliance, diagnostics, and environment-specific monitoring.

Resize columns when comparing top statements

Section titled “Resize columns when comparing top statements”

Workload Compare › Top Statements

The Top Statements table now supports column sizing, so you can adjust the table layout while reviewing comparison data.

Value: Improved readability when working with wide or uneven statement data. Expand columns that contain longer values, reduce wasted whitespace, and compare workload details more efficiently without losing context.

Fixed: full screen now opens in front of the Blocking Details flyout

Section titled “Fixed: full screen now opens in front of the Blocking Details flyout”

The full screen view launched from the Blocking Details flyout now appears correctly instead of opening behind the flyout. This affected the Resources, Wait Statistics, and Application tabs.

Value: Open full screen detail views from blocking analysis without closing the flyout or losing the context you were investigating, restoring the expected full screen workflow during blocking triage.

Fixed: unavailable read/Write % no longer displays as NULL

Section titled “Fixed: unavailable read/Write % no longer displays as NULL”

The Infrastructure › Tables Details flyout no longer displays NULL for Read/Write % when read/write percentage data is unavailable.

Value: Cleaner, less confusing table detail views. Missing read/write percentage data is now handled consistently with other unavailable values, reducing ambiguity during table analysis and customer reviews.

Interactive chart navigation, custom Alert scheduling, and onboarding improvements, march 31, 2026

Section titled “Interactive chart navigation, custom Alert scheduling, and onboarding improvements, march 31, 2026”

This release puts more control in your hands. You can now navigate performance charts forward and backward in time without leaving the screen, set custom evaluation schedules for your own alerts, and onboard new environments through a smoother, more guided setup experience. Several usability improvements round out the release alongside a filter fix in the Alerts module.

All time-based charts across WISdom

All time-based charts in WISdom now include a time navigation toolbar, giving you the ability to move through historical data without adjusting the global date range or leaving the screen. The toolbar is available on every screen that displays a time-series chart, including Performance, Infrastructure, Health, and other modules.

The toolbar appears at the top right of the chart and includes:

Control Action
« (double left arrow) Move backward by twice the selected range
‹ (single left arrow) Move backward by the selected range
Range selector Open a drop-down to choose a preset time range (1h, 6h, 12h, 1d, 3d, 7d, 14d, 30d) that overrides the displayed time range
› (single right arrow) Move forward by the selected range
» (double right arrow) Move forward by twice the selected range
↺ (reset) Resets the time range to the last 7 days from the current time

The chart automatically adjusts the data aggregation interval based on the range you are viewing.

Tip: Use the single arrows to step through previous or next same time range repeatedly. This is useful when comparing workload patterns across multiple time ranges at the same granularity.

Value: Investigate performance events in context without losing your place. Step backward to pinpoint when a spike began, compare the same time window across different days, or move forward to confirm whether an issue has resolved, or select a predefined larger time range, going backward in time from the selected end date. All without resetting your filters or navigating away from the chart.

Admin Console › Alerts › Custom Alerts

When creating or editing a Custom Alert, you can now choose how frequently WISdom evaluates your alert query. Previously, Custom Alerts ran on a fixed schedule, every minute. You can now select from four evaluation frequencies:

  • Minute: Evaluates every minute
  • Hour: Evaluates once per hour
  • Daily: Evaluates once per day
  • Weekly: Evaluates once per week

Value: Match evaluation frequency to what makes sense for the data you are monitoring. A query that tracks daily batch job failures does not need to run every hour or every minute. Setting a longer interval reduces unnecessary processing, reduces resource utilization on the target, and keeps your alert history focused on meaningful events.

All tables across WISdom

Every table in WISdom now displays the total number of records across all pages available. The count appears on the bottom left of the table, to the right of the Rows per page: selector.

Value: Know the full size of any result set at a glance without paging through to the end. Especially useful when applying filters, by confirming immediately whether a tag, group, or search filter is returning the scope you expect.

First Login › Onboarding Wizard

WISdom now launches a guided onboarding wizard the first time a new client logs in. The wizard walks through the three essential setup steps: installing the first Data Collector, adding database instances, and inviting team members. It includes links to the perspective areas of the WISdom User Guide.

The wizard will continue to appear at login until it has been either completed or skipped. Once dismissed either way, it will not reappear.

Value: New clients get a structured, step-by-step path through first-time setup instead of navigating the Admin Console from scratch. The wizard ensures nothing critical is missed during onboarding, and the persist-until-complete behavior means setup progress is never accidentally lost between sessions.

Tag filtering Performance improvement, Inventory dashboards

When exporting query analysis data for performance reviews, optimization planning, or sharing with team members, you’ll now get all the object information you need without manual data compilation or workarounds.## Statistics Management Opportunities, Redesigned

Previously, WISdom surfaced a single opportunity called Enable Automatic Statistics Management that evaluated three SQL Server statistics settings together. Because one of those settings, Asynchronous Statistics Update: is off by default across nearly every SQL Server database, the combined opportunity is triggered for almost every database in most environments. That made it noisy and difficult to act on.

In this release, the three settings have been separated into their own independent opportunities. Each opportunity now evaluates a single configuration and fires only when that specific setting warrants your attention.

Opportunity SQL Server Setting Default Fires When
Automatic Statistics Creation is Disabled AUTO_CREATE_STATISTICS ON The setting is OFF
Automatic Statistics Update is Disabled AUTO_UPDATE_STATISTICS ON The setting is OFF
Asynchronous Statistics Update is Disabled AUTO_UPDATE_STATISTICS_ASYNC OFF The setting is OFF

Asynchronous Statistics Update is Disabled

This is an advisory finding. Because the async setting is off by default, this opportunity is intentionally informational, it highlights databases where enabling async updates may improve query performance. Whether to act on it depends on your workload. See the guidance below.

SQL Server automatically creates statistics on columns used in query predicates when AUTO_CREATE_STATISTICS is enabled. This helps the query optimizer build efficient execution plans without requiring manual statistics management.

When this setting is off, the optimizer must work without statistics on unindexed columns, which can lead to inaccurate row estimates and poor query plans.

When is it intentionally disabled?

Some environments disable auto-create statistics by design:

  • Highly controlled environments where a DBA manages all statistics manually to enforce strict standards
  • Regulatory or compliance environments that restrict automatic database changes
  • Very large databases with frequent ad-hoc queries, where uncontrolled statistics creation adds overhead
  • Read-only or static databases where data never changes, and statistics never become stale

If you see this opportunity and the setting is intentionally off, it can be safely dismissed for those databases.

SQL Server updates statistics automatically when enough data changes occur. Before SQL Server 2016, this happened only after 20% of the rows plus 500 additional rows were modified. Starting in SQL Server 2016, a new algorithm lowers the threshold for large tables, allowing their statistics to update sooner. Keeping statistics current helps the optimizer generate accurate execution plans as data changes.

When this setting is off, statistics become stale over time. Stale statistics lead to suboptimal query plans, which can cause performance degradation that is difficult to diagnose.

When is it intentionally disabled?

Auto update is on by default and should remain on for most databases. There are specific scenarios where DBAs choose to disable it:

  • Highly predictable or static workloads where data distributions rarely change
  • Large ETL processes where statistics are temporarily disabled during bulk loads and then manually refreshed afterward
  • Real-time or latency-sensitive systems (such as trading platforms) where the overhead of a statistics update during query compilation is unacceptable
  • Very large databases with heavy write workloads where automatic updates cause blocking or plan recompilations at critical times
  • Databases using partitioned tables with incremental statistics, where auto-update can trigger full table scans instead of partition-level updates

Tip:

In most cases where Auto Update causes performance problems, enabling Asynchronous Statistics Update is the better solution, it removes the compilation delay without sacrificing freshness. Disabling Auto Update entirely should be a last resort.

Asynchronous statistics update is disabled

Section titled “Asynchronous statistics update is disabled”

By default, when SQL Server detects that statistics are stale, it then updates them synchronously, causing the query to wait for the statistics update to complete before the execution plan is compiled. In most environments, this delay is imperceptible. In high-concurrency or latency-sensitive environments, it can cause noticeable waits.

When AUTO_UPDATE_STATISTICS_ASYNC is enabled, SQL Server compiles and executes the query immediately using the existing statistics, then updates the statistics in a background thread. Future queries benefit from the refreshed statistics.

When should you consider enabling it?

  • Large tables in OLTP or high-concurrency environments where synchronous updates introduce blocking or query latency
  • Latency-sensitive workloads where query compile time needs to be consistent and predictable
  • Highly transactional systems with frequent inserts, updates, and deletes, where statistics updates are frequent and the synchronous wait adds up

Note:

Auto Update Statistics must be enabled for Async to have any effect. Enabling Async on a database where Auto Update is disabled has no impact.

Important:

Async statistics updates mean queries may occasionally compile against slightly stale statistics. In most workloads, the resulting plans are still good enough. In environments where data distributions change dramatically, such as after a bulk load or a table truncation, synchronous updates ensure the freshest statistics are used. Always test before changing this setting in production.

Navigation Name Change
To better represent our growing list of capabilities around “Calculators”, we’ve renamed those calculators to Planners.

New Tool for Estimating Schema Change Impact
A comprehensive cost planner helps you estimate the financial impact of database schema changes by selecting instances, databases, tables, and actions, then configuring cost parameters.

Value: Make informed decisions about schema changes by understanding their true cost before implementation. Whether you’re adding indexes, modifying tables, or restructuring databases, the calculator provides cost projections based on your specific environment and workload patterns. This is especially valuable when presenting change requests to leadership or finance teams, you can now quantify the expected resource consumption and associated costs of proposed schema modifications, helping you prioritize changes that deliver the best ROI.

Machine Learning for Job Runtime Analysis
Jobs screen now includes anomaly detection for job runtime, automatically identifying outliers and potential issues.

Value: Catch job performance degradation early by automatically spotting when jobs run significantly longer than their historical patterns. Instead of manually monitoring job durations or discovering issues through user complaints, WISdom flags anomalous job behavior proactively. This helps you identify deteriorating query plans, growing data volumes, or resource contention issues before they impact business processes, especially critical for overnight batch jobs or scheduled maintenance windows where delays cascade into business hours.

Resource Health Export
New export functionality for the Resource Health screen, providing comprehensive health score data across all instances.

Value: Export complete resource health data including host and instance health scores, CPU/memory/storage pressure percentages, and contention metrics for reporting, trending analysis, or capacity planning presentations. This is particularly valuable for infrastructure reviews, executive reporting, or documenting baseline performance before major changes.

Improved Alert Details Export
Alert Details exports now include Duration (displayed as days + time), Message column, and properly formatted Alert Categories.

Value: Get complete alert data for incident reports, compliance documentation, or trend analysis without manual data cleanup. The fixed Alert Categories display and added duration/message fields provide the complete context needed for post-incident reviews or sharing alert information with external teams.

Filter Alerts by Alert ID
Users can now filter alerts by specific Alert ID on the Alert page, allowing you to quickly view individual alerts referenced from alert notification emails.

Value: Quickly locate specific alerts when working from incident tickets, email notifications, or handoff notes. Instead of scrolling through alert lists or using multiple filters, jump directly to the alert you need by ID, streamlining incident response and reducing time spent searching.

Fixed: Alert Status Filter in Views Alert Status filters now work correctly when included in saved Views, properly honoring Open/Closed status selections alongside other filter criteria.

Value: Your saved alert views now work as expected, maintaining alert status filters when applied. Teams that rely on views for daily alert triage, such as “Open Critical Alerts” or “Closed Alerts This Week”, can now trust that their views will display the correct alert set every time.
