Article summary

The Hosts - Overview screen is dividided into 3 sections, Overview, Properties, and Capacity Planning, with each section displaying multiple cards all with data related to the selected Hosts. The display can be filtered by using the drop-down menus for Environment or Host. A selected filter will persist between the Overview and Details Screen, but if more than one Host was chosen on the Overview filter, the filter must be reset for the Details screen.

The Date Picker in the upper right corner of the screen allows the selection of a date up to the current date. The data displayed in the Hosts - Overview screen will be based on the date chosen. The data will be an aggregation of the 7 days prior to the date chosen, with the date chosen not being included in the aggregation.

Overview

The following sections provide information on the Host Environment, including Availability, Alerts, Silencing Windows, Tier of Service and Monitoring.

Host Availability

This card Displays information on the availability and accessibility of the hostHost(s) by Tier of Service and Availability (the percentage of the selected time range that the host Host was online, fully functional, and responsive to user requests).

  • Hover the cursor over theSelecting a column headings willto to sort the list in ascending or descending order.
    • Click on the row to display a pop-up that lists, by hostHost, Availability (%), Uptime, and Last System Restart.
  • The Host Availability card indicates whether the application is fully functional and available to users or if it is experiencing significant performance slowdowns compared to pre-defined thresholds.

Alert Status

Displays information on the status of alerts. Alerts can be set up based on time intervals or on specific outcomes of pre-determined monitoring checks.

  • For more information, see the Alerts section in Monitoring Modules section of this manual.

Silencing Window

Displays information about defined Windows for Silencing Alerts for the Host(s). Alerts will be suppressed within the specified window. Select the column to sort in ascending or descending order.

  • For more information, see Silencing Window in Monitoring Modules section of this manual.

Tier of Service

Displays a grouping of Hosts by their classified Tier of Service:

  • The color-coded bar chart coincides with the colored numbers in the rows and compares the distribution by percentage for each tier.
  • Click on the row to display a pop-up that lists the Host(s) included in that tier.

Monitoring

Displays information on the level of monitoring in effect.

  • Collection
  • Not Monitored
Managed services customers may also see:
  • 24/7 Monitoring
  • Core Business Hours
  • Management Server

Click on the row to display a pop-up that lists the Host(s) included in that monitoring level.

Properties

Based on the filters selected, this section of the dashboard summarizes all monitored servers in the environment and displays information for Resources, Environment, Data Collection, Operating System, and Patch Compliance.

Host Resources

Displays the total CPU Count, Memory and available Storage for the Host(s) in the environment or based on the filters selected.

Environment

Displays information about the Host environment where the resource resides. Possible environments include Development, Disaster Recovery (DR), Performance, Production, Quality Assurance (QA), Staging, Test, User Acceptance Test (UAT) or the environment can be unassigned.

  • The color-coded gauge chart matches the colored numbers in the Hosts column and displays the distribution between environments.
  • Click on the row to display a pop-up that lists the Host(s) included in that environment.

Data Collector

Displays information about the number of Hosts assigned to a Collector based on the selected filter(s).

  • The color-coded gauge chart matches the colored numbers in the Hosts column and displays the distribution between Collectors.
  • Click on the row to display a pop-up that lists the Host(s) included in the selected Collector Environment.

For more information, see Collector Health in the Monitoring section of this manual.

Operating System

Displays the number of Hosts running an Operating Systems (OS) based on the selected filter(s).

  • The color-coded gauge chart matches the colored numbers in the Hosts column and displays the distribution by OS.
  • Click on the row to display a pop-up that lists the host(s) running the selected OS.

Patch Compliance

Displays information about how much time has elapsed since the last patch was applied to the Host(s) based on the selected filter. Data is broken into 3 buckets:

  • Within the last 6 months
  • 6 -12 months
  • Over 12 months

The color-coded gauge chart matches the colored numbers in the Hosts column and displays the distribution by Hosts.

  • Click on the row to display a pop-up that lists the Last Patch Date for each host.

Capacity Planning

This section of the dashboard uses data collected over the last 30 days to provide recommendations for CPU and Memory Capacity, the configurations of the number of CPU Cores, the amount of Memory, the Free Space by drive, and Disk Latency per drive based on the selected filter(s).

CPU Capacity

Displays information related to CPU sizing recommendations for optimal performance based on the data collected for the past 30 days. The value displayed in the center of the gauge chart is the sum of the recommended Core change(s) for the Host(s) based on the selected filter(s). The Hosts column displays the number of Hosts impacted by the CPU Sizing category.

  • The color-coded gauge chart matches the colored numbers in the Hosts column and displays the distribution by Hosts.
  • Click on the row to display a pop-up that lists the Host(s) for the chosen CPU Sizing with the recommendation(s) for the adjusting the number of Cores.

Memory Capacity

Displays information related to the memory sizing recommendations for optimizing performance in gigabytes based on the data collected for the past 30 days. The value displayed in the center of the gauge chart is the sum of the recommended memory change(s) for the Host(s) based on the selected filter(s). The Hosts column displays the number of Hosts impacted by the Memory Sizing recommendation.

  • The color-coded gauge chart matches the colored numbers in the Hosts column and displays the distribution by Hosts.
