Reporting (Beta)

Overview

The WISdom Reporting module turns the data WISdom collects into clean, structured reports that you can share with anyone — whether they log into WISdom or not.

Instead of exporting data by hand or assembling screenshots for leadership meetings, Reporting lets you build reusable templates, schedule automatic delivery, and download past runs whenever you need them.

Beta Notice:

The Reporting module is currently in beta. Screens and features will change as the product evolves. We welcome your feedback.
Once the module has evolved out of Beta, an API will be introduced to interact with the Reporting module.

Permissions required: Access to Admin Console → Reporting

When to Use Reporting

Reporting is the right tool when you need to share WISdom data with people outside the platform, on a recurring schedule, or in a consistent format for reviews and stakeholder conversations.

Common use cases include:

  • A clean summary for leadership, finance, or stakeholders who are not in WISdom day-to-day
  • Recurring reports with automatic delivery on a weekly, monthly, or custom schedule
  • A consistent format for incident reviews, database health checks, or cost discussions
  • A downloadable snapshot to attach to a ticket or post-incident review

How Reporting Works

Reporting is built around two building blocks that work together:

Step 1 — Report Template
Create a template that defines what the report contains. Choose which sections to include, such as alerts, failed jobs, storage growth, or instance inventory, and then arrange them in the order that makes sense for your audience. A template is reusable and can power multiple subscriptions.

Step 2 — Report Subscription
Connect a template to a schedule and a set of recipients, and add filters when needed to refine which resources are reported. The subscription controls when the report runs, who receives it, and how it is delivered. You can create multiple subscriptions from the same template for different audiences or frequencies.

The Workflow at a Glance

  1. Create a template — Define which sections appear in the report and in what order.
  2. Create a subscription — Choose a template, set a schedule, apply any scope filters, and add recipients.
  3. Queue a preview — Trigger an immediate run to confirm the report looks right before the first scheduled delivery.
  4. Review history — Use Report History to confirm delivery, check status, and download past runs at any time.

Accessing the Reporting Module

  1. Sign in to WISdom.
  2. In the top navigation, select Admin Console.
  3. Select Reporting from the Admin Console menu.
  4. You will land on Report Templates, the default view.

Note: If you do not see Reporting in the Admin Console, contact your WISdom administrator to confirm that Reporting is enabled for your account and that you have the correct permissions.
