Databases

The lnventory->Databases screen is used to display a list of all Databases residing on instances that have been added to WISdom for collection. Database information is displayed in a table format with sortable columns in the Databases section.

The display can be filtered by using the drop-down menus for Instance, Database, Platform, Compatibility Level, Recovery Model, and Tag.

The Search area (magnifying glass in the upper right corner of the screen) provides the ability to search for a string or name, further limiting the Instances displayed in the Database Instances table.

Database Instances

Displays a table with sortable columns for the Instance, Database, Last Used, Compatibility Level, Database Size, Annual Cost of Data, CPU Usage (Core), Memory Usage, IO MB/Sec, Tables, and Tags for all monitored databases.

  • The Instance column displays the host and instance name where the database resides.
  • The Database column displays the name of the database.
  • The Last Used column displays the last date and time the database was used. This is based on the index stats data collected weekly.
    • Note that this will not populate right away, it may take as long as 7 days to be valid data depending on the collection schedule.
  • The Compatibility Level column displays the configured SQL Server compatibility mode associated with the database.
  • The Database Size displays the size of the database.
  • The Annual Cost of Data column displays the estimated or customized cost associated with the database in dollars.
  • The CPU Usage (Core) column displays the average CPU utilization attributed to the database.
  • The Memory Usage column displays the average memory usage attributed to the database.
  • The IO MB/Sec column displays the average IO throughput attributed to the database.
  • The Tables column displays the number of tables in the database.
  • The Tags column displays the Tags associated with the database.

Assign Value / Edit

Limited editing is available for databases, as database collection is inherited from the instance level.

To edit a single database, click the Three-Dot icon at the end of the row and choose the Edit button. A flyout will appear with the option to edit the Tag(s) associated with the database. To edit Tags for more than one host at a time, check the boxes in the leftmost column, then click the Assign Value button at the top-right.
