Applications

This card displays a sortable list in a table format of all configured applications (host and services) in the Environment that are making connections to the SQL Server, as follows:

  • The Application Name column displays the name of the Application.
  • The Tier of Service column displays the label associated with the service that indicates how critical it is to operations.
  • The Application Type column lists the type of application (Custom, SaaS, Vendor).
  • The Client Facing column indicates if the application is client facing.
  • The Email Distribution Group column displays valid email addresses used for RTO/RPO automatic alert notifications.
  • The Application Owner column displays name of the application’s owner.
  • The Database Mapping column displays what database(s) an application is mapped to. Click the row to display a list of the database name that can be copied.
  • The RTO (min.) column displays the time required to restore the system technically to an operational state after a system failure or disaster.
  • The RPO (min.) column displays the acceptable amount of data (measured backwards from the time of failure) that can be lost before system failure or disaster.

To Edit or Delete an Application, click the 3-DOT icon at the end of the row. See the Edit Application section for more information.

Edit Application

This flyout is used to modify and/or map an existing Application.
Details
Required fields are indicated with a red asterisk. Edit the following fields as necessary and click the Save button to update the application information.

  • Application Name*- Enter the name of the Application or Program to be edited
  • Tier of Service* - Select Non-Production, Tier 1, Tier 2, or Tier 3 from the drop-down
  • Application Type* - Select Custom, SaaS, or Vendor from the drop-down
  • Client Facing* - Click checkbox to indicate
  • RTO (min.)* - Enter or modify the desired RTO time.
  • RPO (min.)* - Enter or modify the desired RPO time.
  • Application Owner*- Select owner from the drop-down list.
  • Email Distribution Group - Enter a valid email address to have an automatic alert email notification sent if the application isn’t meeting the specified RTO/RPO targets.
  • Description – Type a character description of the Application and/or edit notes.

Mapping

To edit the mapping for an Application, use the following fields and click the Save button to update the application information.

  • Application Name - Enter the name of the Application to be mapped.
  • Database(s) - Type the name of the Database(s) that the Application will be mapped to and press Enter.”

New Application

To add a new Application, click the [+] Setup New Application button in the Application card header. The New Application flyout will be displayed. This flyout maps the Application so it can collect data.
